We think of internships as an introduction to our World at Avalanche Studios Group, a foot in the door of the industry. Being part of our team, you get the opportunity to collaborate with some of the best minds in gaming, helping you to discover what your skills and passions are. Being an intern at Avalanche Studios Group is almost like being employed by us. As an intern, you work directly as a part of the development team. You are responsible for your own part of the game, and the tasks you get are based on your knowledge and background. All we ask is that you're passionate about our games and ambitious about what you can create. We will be there to guide you and help you grow.
INTERNSHIP
We created internships for students who want to make an impact. Open to undergraduates, recent graduates, and final year Master's and MBA students, you can get involved in anything from the technical side of game creation to market analysis. You'll spend up to 6 months with us, gaining a deep understanding of our industry and learning from some of the best people in it.
CHARLOTTE BARNEKOW - GAME DESIGNER
"My internship resulted in finding my dream job as a Character Mechanics Designer here at Avalanche Studios Group; creating awesome games with the most friendly, helpful, and amazingly skilled people!
One of the coolest things about Avalanche’s internship program is that you are considered to be a part of the team and its game development from day one. Being treated as equally important in a team of experienced game developers and having the chance to contribute and shape the game made me highly motivated to sharpen my skills."
THESIS RESEARCH
We're always flattered when someone bases their Bachelor's or Master's thesis on Avalanche Studios Group. But what makes us really happy is having them work with us while completing it. You'll collaborate with some amazingly talented people, hone your knowledge in your chosen field, and be inspired to push your thinking to the next level.
NATHAN BHAT - GAMEPLAY PROGRAMMER
"I joined Avalanche Studios Group through my master thesis in computer science. It was the first time I was able to work with code written for a commercial context, and everyone here was professional, friendly, and accommodating for my thesis project.
I learned to see professional AAA solutions to problems and the experience I gained while working on my master thesis made it easy to transition into a full-time position at Avalanche Studios Group. Today, I work as a Gameplay Programmer, and it continues to be gratifying, interesting, and challenging in the best ways."
ALVAR JANSSON - LEAD GRAPHICS PROGRAMMER
"I'm a Lead Graphics Programmer and have been at Avalanche Studios Group since 2006. I joined with a fellow student for our Computer Science and Engineering thesis and we ended up creating a dynamic global illumination solution that made the light in the game colored by the surrounding buildings and ground. After the thesis, we were both able to start working at Avalanche, and we are both still here, 14 years later.
Throughout the years the company has kept its inclusive and caring company culture and the enthusiasm for what we create together. Which is what I enjoyed most during my thesis work and still do now. I love seeing new ideas that get brought into the context of our games by the students we mentor here, and the energy that they bring."
CAMPUS LIFE
At Avalanche Studios Group, we never stop learning. From each other, from our players, from success and failures. It's how we evolve and improve. And how you, just like every student who's worked with us, will do too.
